The technology behind Fusion automatic brazing and soldering machines is substantial, the approach is a simple one.

Fluxes are a material which, when heated, serves to remove and exclude surface oxides from the base metal. Brazing fluxes are generally of a highly corrosive nature. Solder fluxes may be classified into one of the following groups:

  • Non-corrosive
  • Intermediate
  • Corrosive

Fluxes consist of mild organic acid or strong inorganic acid which promotes high speed cleaning of metals with strong surface oxides. Flux residues are normally removed after brazing and soldering to prevent damage to the joint. Fluxes are matched to the temperature range of the alloys, filler metals that they are paired with.

When used with solid forms of brazing and soldering alloy, fluxes are generally applied by brushing, dipping, or spraying the parts before heating. With paste alloys, the flux is built into the mixture along with metal alloys in powder form.

Fusion also has homogeneous dispensable fluxes to use with wire, rings, and preform alloys. These fluxes are formulated to be dispensed automatically through Fusion applicators. Fluxes are for silver brazing, phos/copper brazing, solder, and aluminum.
